In the 1980s in the United States, during the widespread computer redesign, Apple II desk devices were widely used in school classrooms. Thus, it is quite possible that the very first virus to target personal computers was Elk. It was written for Apple by a high school student. In 1982, Richard Screnta was in ninth grade when he wrote the virus that caused infected computers to display a poem on screens for the first 50 connections. That's it, just a poem. As Elk Cloner was a download virus it infected every disk installed on a computer, which in turn became infected with other computers. Nowadays, such a game is very simple, but in 1982. it was considered an innovation.
